The Our Lady of Lourdes School (Malverne) fourth and fifth graders visited Crossroads Farm at Grossman's on Thursday, Nov. 3. The students planted radishes and bunch onions. The fifth graders also harvested green beans from plants that had frosted. They talked about the history of Crossroads Farm, the importance of health organic food, observed animals, examined worms with magnifiers and discussed their important role as soil enrichers and the good fortune of enjoying open space in their own community.
The fifth graders also discussed bee society and their role in pollination.
