Our Lady of Providence Students Experience New Twist on Summer Reading

Our Lady of Providence Students Experience New Twist on Summer Reading
Posted on 09/18/2017

This past summer, Our Lady of Providence Regional School’s (Central Islip) ELA teachers, grades 5 through 8, tried something new for student summer reading.  Each grade was assigned a book to read, and a class "kidsblog" was set up.  Students interacted with each other and their teachers to discuss parts of the assigned book.  Thoughtful questions were posted by the teacher to guide the discussions.  There has been a very positive response; the students were engaged and seem to have gained more from reading and responding this way.
